QfG Six!?

You may or may not have heard of the Quest for Glory series of games. They were made by somebody whose name I dont recall quite a while ago. I should probably know who that is because I am intending to include them in my The If You Shea Show Zyngstravaganza. Those of you familiar with video games will be familiar with the Fallout and Elder Scrolls Series. QfG is a predecessor ( and almost contemporary to the early elder scrolls games like Daggerfall ) and has in it the same 'open endedness' that the Fallout and Elder Scrolls games have that make them more like a story play than the regular shoot em ups and platform adventures. You are given an option of three different character classes and the scenario is resolved differently by the three classes. This is a huge difference ( and even huger considering the arena QfG came out in ) to the run of the mill adventure games of the era. You could swing your sword through the quest as a fighter, slink quietly through as a thief, or blast your way through as a wizard. While the quests were very linear ( almost like playing only the story missions in an Elder Scrolls game ) the open startedness of the character creation gave Quest for Glory that subtle feel of a real story play.

The greatest thing about the series is that you could carry your character through from each one to the other. The wizard you made in the first one can be ported with all his stuff ( with some glitchiness ) to the second and all the way to the final fifth game where he becomes a king. Playing the game aright your hero travels from sleepy Spielburg to the warm sands of Shapier then on to a mythical Africa full of Taurna and warriors, then to a strange victorian horror show, and finally to a grecian paradise wherin he must face the final test of a true king - battle. Like in Skyrim - a true king must be both warrior and poet. When I saw that they are making another one I was like WHOOOPIE! And, without looking - this is how I would do it.....

So your a king now. What next? I mean? What more glory is there? Not one but five kingdoms owe their continued existence to you. Cant you rest on your laurels from here on out? No! Five kingdoms may be safe from the quickly rising darkness, but that does not mean the world is secure! One thing that I would necessarily include in a Guest for Glory 'Kings Quest' game is the inclusion of having to manipulate people. You are going to war.. nobly and justly of course, but war nonetheless. Perhaps a return to Shapier? Perhaps a new exotic location like a fantasy India to compare and contrast with the third installments fantasy Africa. Regardless, a true kingdom is plagued with an evil ruler ( fantasy Japan? ) and you the noble hero king must ride ahead of your armies to the lands that yearn to breath free air! There you deal freely with friendly merchants on the infinite credit of a king, and must make the correct tactical decisions for your army. QfG being a single character game at heart - the ultimate success must lie in your hands, but the added elements of having an army at your disposal would be an excellent touch. Having a royal treasury at your disposal will also be awesome. The final question would be ..who is the villain? QfG 1 had an evil witch. QfG 2 had an evil king. I have never beaten 2 and therefor not played three through five. I think four had a mad scientist and five was a great gladiator if I remember my spoilers correctly. If it was fantasy India they could do a demon cow...
